Mumbai: Abdul Rahim Qureishi, Secretary of All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) expressed his anger over enlisting of Khair e Ummat Trust as a front organization of banned SIMI (Students Islamic Movement of India) and termed the allegation as baseless and wrong.
He said, “Intelligence Agencies are bringing bad name to the Government. No one knows who directs the agencies which are hell bent to accuse each and every Muslim organization for an undesirable act.”

Further he said that these agencies have been proved wrong in many cases. In Hyderabad Makkah Masjid Blast case many Muslims were arrested and but were released after three years. He said, “Even the State government has to apologize on the floor of the state Assembly and compensate these victims.”
Clarifying about the AIMPLB and Khair e Ummat Trust, Qurieshi said, “Khair e Ummat is a registered charitable organization. It’s a part of Reception Committee and the contact office of Board in Mumbai.” I have seen the list of organizations branded as the front organization of SIMI, it’s foolish. He said, “One name in the list is Islah e Muaashra. There is no organization with this name. It’s an Urdu word which means reforming the society. He urged the government to keep check on these agencies giving false information.
“We don’t have any link with the banned organization SIMI and it’s surprising that government accused us as a front organization of SIMI,” said, Harun Mozawala, Secretary of Khair e Ummat Trust.
On the sideline of Muslim Personal Board conference in Mumbai, he told TCN, “We came to know about the note from the news reports, which is shocking to us.” Informing about the activities of Khair e Ummat I K Abedi said, “It’s a 14 years old organization working in the field of Education and Health.”
The website of Khair e Ummat http://khaire-e-ummat.org/Contact%20Us.html claims that the trust came into existence in 1998 to cater to the needs of the underprivileged of the society especially in the field of education. It concludes, “With a limited resources we have embarked on a journey of Making a difference to life and Living.”
The organization is working in the field of Education, Medical, and Employment Consultancy. It informs the youth about the government schemes. It also works for Women empowerment and runs a Darul Qaza to solve family dispute according to Islamic Principles.
