Iran pardons 130 inmates ahead of Eid al-Fitr

Moscow : About 130 convicts held on treason charges have been released in Iran on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, Fars News Agency reported Wednesday.

The leader of the Islamic revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has granted clemency to the prisoners who repented their crimes.

Khamenei has also ordered prison sentences of another group of prisoners to be commuted.

Eid al-Fitr marks the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
