Bihar dismisses six BDOs for corruption

By IANS,

Patna : The Bihar government Tuesday dismissed six block development officers (BDOs) in Araria district on corruption charges, officials said.

Ravikant, the principal secretary of the cabinet coordination department, said the state cabinet has approved dismissal of six BDOs who were found involved in misappropriation of funds for the Indira Awas Yojna scheme in the district.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had expressed his anguish over large-scale corruption in the schemes, and warned officials as well as middlemen not to play with the poor people's dream of a house.

Last month, six policemen, including five sub-inspectors and an assistant sub-inspector, were dismissed in the state on corruption charges.
