Disclosing this while releasing the party’s vision document here Friday, union Law Minister Salman Khurshid said: “We will bring the huge pendency of cases before courts to zero over the next three years.”

As part of ensuring social justice, the document also promises to strike a balance between traditions and modernity. “At the same time, we also guarantee the safety and security to all and sundry by bringing in the much-desired police reforms.”

He said “good governance would be ensured by making every government functionary accountable”.

Declaring that prices would also be kept under control, the minister claimed: “Food inflation has already been brought down to the minus level and now we have the food security bill to ensure that 42 percent of the country’s population gets ration at subsidised rates.”

The document also talks about “wide expansion of the road network, besides adequate supply of power to not only industries but also to the domestic and agriculture sectors”.
