Renowned Urdu litterateur Wahab Ashrafi passes away

Patna: Towering personality of Urdu world Prof. Dr. Wahab Ashrafi passed away Sunday morning after a prolong illness at a hospital here. He was suffering with various diseases for last two years. He was 75. The news about his death spread like fire and people from different walks of society came to his home to pay last tributes.

Prof. Ashrafi was suffering with various diseases for last two years, but for last two months he was in critical status. After treatments at various hospitals in Patna, he was taken to Delhi. He was operated at a hospital in Gurgaon near Delhi and came back to Patna. But his condition improved little and within few days he was again admitted to hospital in Patna. He breathed his last this morning at Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences.

His funeral prayers will be offered at 11 am Monday at the Jama Masjid in Haroon Nagar Sec. 11 in Phulwari Shareef. Then his body will be taken to his native place Kako in Jahanabad. According to his will, he will be buried after Zohar prayer at Bibi Kamal graveyard in Kako.



Prof. Ashrafi wrote dozens of books on history of world literature. His death is a great loss to the world of Urdu literature.
