Neither Saudi nor Indian Government announced his arrest, nor was he presented in any court in India or Saudi Arab. Ultimately management graduate Nikhat, who had married Fasih in September last year, filed a habeas corpus in the Supreme Court on 30th May. About two months after his picking the Indian Government admitted before the Supreme Court on 11th July that Fasih is in the custody of Saudi Government. As she and his family have no information about his health, she on Thursday approached the Saudi Embassy to issue her a visa so that she could see her husband.

“Sir, my husband is in custody of the KSA government since 13th of May, 2012 and after a lapse of about more than two months we have not been able to have information regarding his health etc. which is telling upon the health and mental agony to the entire family. Now that my husband Fasih Mehmood’s custody with the KSA Government has been accepted and confirmed by the Government of India, I would request your Highness to kindly issue visiting visa for me along with Mehram to enable us to see him in person,” wrote Nikhat in her application to the embassy.

During last hearing on 11th July, 2012 before the Supreme Court, the Government of India confirmed her husband Fasih Mehmood’s detention in Saudia. The government told the court that Saudi government confirmed it on 26th June, 2012.

Fasih was picked in the presence of Nikhat who was also in Saudi at that time by the local police and some Indian embassy officials.

Fasih belongs to Barh Samela village in Darbhanga from where about dozen youths in last 8 months have been picked in terror cases. Their parents and villagers categorically refute the charges of terrorism and say whole campaign is part of a conspiracy.
