Global March to Jerusalem beginning on 6th March

Mumbai: For the rights of Palestinians, a Global March to Jerusalem is setting off on 6th March. Making announcement about the march last week at Urdu Markaz in Mumbai, Feroz Mithiborewala from Awami Bharat said: “After the dangerous but successful Asian March to Gaza and the recent revolution in Arab countries, we are now focusing on Jerusalem. We feel that Palestine is the Central geopolitical issue of our times and at the heart and soul of Palestine lies the issue of Jerusalem.”

Global March will have a caravan that will reach or try to reach closer to Jerusalem on 30th March, 2012, that is the Land day for the Palestinians, he added. The caravan will start from Indonesia on 6th March and will reach Delhi on 7th March where the members will be felicitated by the Palestinian Embassy.

Schedule

6th March: The Caravan will set off from Indonesia

7th March: It will reach New Delhi

8th March: Members will celebrate Holi, a festival of India

9th March: Besides meeting with different political party leaders, a visit to Rajghat is also scheduled at 9.00 am. The caravan will travel to Golden Temple and Jalianwala Bag to pay the homage to Freedom fighters. It will depart for Lahore.

9th -14th March: It will visit Karachi, Multan and Koweta of Pakistan till 14th March.

15th March: It will take a trip of Zaidan, Isfahan, Qom, Tehran, cities of Iran.

21st March: From Tabrez, border area of Iran and Turkey, it will enter Turkey on 21st March and visit Ankara. Then the caravan will take a Passenger Ship to Beirut and it will try and reach to the border of old Palestine of 1948.

Feroz admitted, “We know we can’t reach The Jerusalem but will try to reach near to it.” Feroz sought support of Ulema by informing the people in Khutba-e-Juma especially on 23rd and 30th March. He also asked for dharna in front of Israeli Embassy in Mumbai and other cities of India.

Pooja, Amruta, Jyoti, and Vijayta, four young students and activists of Vidyarthi Bharthi also pledge to join Global March.

Pooja, student of Law in Mumbai University, who accompanied the Asian Caravan to Gaza, shared her experience. She said, “It’s great to return alive from the earlier March. We were welcome in Iran, other countries restricted but it was Hosni Mubarak who is guilty of doing injustice with the peaceful caravan. ” She said, “We are ready to die for the innocent Palestinians that not only includes Muslims but Christians and Jews also.”

Explaining why Indians must join the Palestinians cause Fareed Khan said, “India is one of the main leaders of Non Aligned Movement, NAM. Our great leaders like Gandhi and Nehru supported Palestinians but PV Narsimharao deviated and supported Israel.
