Rajasthan govt. promises land for AMU centre in state

Jaipur: Accepting the demand of the participants of educational conference by All India Muslim Educational Society (AIMES), Chief Minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot on Sunday announced to provide land for Aligarh Muslim University’s centre in Rajasthan. Addressing the concluding session of the two-day conference here, Gehlot also announced to set up five more Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) in Muslim populated areas in the state. The Gehlot government has already announced last year to build 10 ITIs in Muslim populated areas.

The participants of the conference also demanded to establish Khwaja Gharib Nawaz Minority University in the state but he didn’t say anything in this regards.

“I promise to you to provide land to AMU centre here in Rajashtan,” announced CM Gehlot. Appealing to the people to focus on education he said “Without education there is darkness in life.”

Digvijaya Singh, former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh and general secretary of Congress advised to practice the reservation within the reservation theory.

“I request to Ashok Gehlot ji to give reservation within reservation to the Muslim community like centre did and I know the Bharatiya Janata Party will protest against it but don’t worry, let them protest.”

Talking about communal problem in the country he said “I congratulate Mr. Gehlot that when Vishwa Hindu Parishad General Secretary Praveen Togadia was distributing trishul then he ordered his arrest in Ajmer.”

Union Minister of Law and Justice and Minority Affairs Salman Khurshid shouted against the politics of reservation.

“Putting question marks only on the issue of Muslims reservation is hypocrisy. Why people don’t shout on reservation at all,” he said.

“I am happy that I have been put on stand for giving comments about 9 percent reservation to Muslims. It is battle for justice which will continue whole life,” he pointed out.

“We are trying to make pre-matric scholarship on demand basis then we would not say that the money has been finished. They can apply online and get information either their applications have been accepted for scholarships or not. In case of acceptance the money will be sent in their accounts directly,” he explained.

K Rahman Khan, former Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha suggested to build community institutions and schools.
“Take government as facilitator not as provider. Create your own planning board and national development council,” he said.

Talking about reservation he said that the reservation is remedy of discrimination which is reality of our country.”

“It is our dream and demand to establish the Khawaja Garib Nawaz State Minority University for Muslim here in Rajasthan and appoint a chair for Sufism. If it is not possible for the state then it may be set up through public private partnership,” he advised.

Mahir Azad, Chairman, Rajasthan State Commission for Minorities said: “We have to discuss as to how to improve the education status of Muslims in Rajasthan. He demanded to reopen the Jamia Urdu Aligarh’s examination centre in Rajasthan and to build Urdu B Ed. colleges and Muslim students hostels in Jaipur.

“Gehlot government has promised to open 10 ITIs in Muslim populated areas in Rajasthan but still the work has not been started,” he said.

Justice Abdus Sattar focused on moral education.

“A man can also be ignorant after having education and a literate ignorant is much more dangerous for the society than illiterate person,” he said.

“Education is not only having degrees and diplomas but to achieve the human and moral values is called education,” he said.

Highlighting Congress led UPA government’s work for Muslims, Minister of State for the Ministry of External Affairs and minister of state for Human Resource Development E Ahmad said that “Congress is the best of the best.”

Zafar Javed, Chairman of India Chapter-Islamic Development Bank, Jeddah insisted that there is certain need of government and Muslim society to work together.

“It is responsibility of the majority and also the government to take care of its minority,” he said.
“There are 20 crore Muslims living in India and no government can make India shining leaving these 20 crore people uneducated and backward,” he pointed out.

The participants passed a 13 point resolution which demands implementation of recommendations of Justice Sachar Committee and Justice Ranganath Mishra Commission and enlisting of districts with 15% or more minority population as minority district.

The resolution also urged the Government of India and AMU to establish its centre in Rajasthan and in Tamil Nadu, to establish a minority university by the name of Khawaja Gharib Nawaz University in Rajasthan, adequate land for the establishment of Islamic Cultural Centre in Jaipur.
