Old city of Lucknow once again was wrapped in gloom with the beginning of mourning month of Muharram from Friday. As the moon was sighted, Muharram month was announced.

Already the major monuments as Bada and Chota Imambara, Saadat Ali Khan ka Maqbara and whole Nakhas road was draped with black flags and banners with saying of Imam Hussain. People too lined up for getting taziyas for Muharram.

On Friday, the first day of Moharram, the traditional Shahi Zari Juloos will be taken out from Bada Imambara to Chota Imambara. It was started by the third Nawab of Awadh Mohammad Ali Shah (1837-42). Presently it is managed by Hussainabad and Allied Trust which is headed by District Magistrate of Lucknow.

Due to the history of sectarian violence in Lucknow, administration too is leaving no stone unturned for maintaining peace. Clerics have appealed for the maintaining peace.
