Referring to the Students’ Union elections, he clarified that the election will be held according to recommendations of the Lyngdoh Committee, but action will be taken against those who will deface the walls of the University by pasting posters. There will be separate Unions for Women’s College because 90% students and teachers of Women’s College have opined that the problems of girl students are quite different from those of boys and the office bearers of the Students’ Union often barge into the Women’s College premises on lame pretexts. He said that he is not against the gender equality but according to the recommendations of Lyngdoh Committee, the University can have two unions.
