50,000 voters name deleted from electoral rolls, says JD(S) leader Abdul Azeem

Bangalore: Karnataka JD(S) leader Abdul Azeem claims that about 50,000 voters name has been deleted from the draft list in the Hebbal Assembly constituency in Bangalore.
Azeem, who quit JD(S) in January last year, before re-joining it again, had filed a complaint with the Election Commission in December 2012, about huge inaccuracies in voters name and details, and about missing names from the list. In reply, the Commission stated “that the draft electoral roll of Hebbal constituency will be revised on furnishing valid identity and address proof.”

Speaking to TwoCircles.net, Abdul Azeem said that, “50,000 names were deleted from the Hebbal constituency, out of which 20-25 thousand are Muslim names. The reason given was that they did not have photo identity, which was made mandatory for this election.”

“It was the officials’ responsibility to inform citizens about the changes, which was never done, apart from the missing names, there are around 5000 voters whose details have been printed incorrectly. Males have been made female and vice versa,” he added.

Azeem alleges that there is a deliberate attempt by few politicians to sabotage the elections in their favour. “The contract to print the voters name was given to a printer, who has links to these politicians”.

When pressed to name these politicians, he said, “There is a politican from BJP, his name is Katta Subramanya Naidu, he was involved in a multi-crore scam”.
At the end of the conversation, Azeem reassuringly said that, “60-70% of inaccuracies have been corrected. It is not 100%, but something is better than nothing”.
