SDPI and BSP release first list of candidates in Karnataka

Bengaluru: A day after three major political parties in Karnataka, announced their first list of candidates for the Assembly elections, the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) also released their first list of candidates on Saturday.

Last month both the parties had entered a political alliance and according to its leaders, they want to give power to religious, social and economic minorities in the state.

SDPI will field 17 candidates, out of which 15 are Muslims: Abdul Majeed (Narsimharaja), Moulana Usman Baig (Chamrajpet), Mehboob Sharief (Sarwajna Nagar), Syed Fakhruddin (Hebbal), Mujahid Pasha (Chickpet ), Dr. Mohammed Rafeeq (Bijapur), Prof. Shabbir Mustafa (Chamraja Assembly), Abdul Hakeem (Kapu), Abdul Jaleel (Mangalore South), Adv. Abdul Majeed (Bantwal), Abubaker Kulai (Mangalore North), Akram Hassan (Mangalore), Ismail Engineer (Moodbidri), Syed Ishaq Hussain (Shahpur), K A Siddiq (Puttur), Smt. Hemalata (Pulakeshi Nagar) and Kusappa (Sulliya).

BSP will field 93 candidates, and its first list has 8 Muslim names among others: E Razakullah (Harihar), Jakeeh Hussain (Karkala), Aleem Akhtar S Nayak (Khanapur), Abdul Mannan (Bidar South), Syed Anwer Qadri (Basavakalyan), Haris Siddiqui (Raichur), Suleman Balgar (Hirekerur) and Jafer Pasha (Magadi).
