Scholarships to poor minority students given in Guwahati

Guwahati: Students Islamic Organization of India (SIO) distributed scholarships to 45 meritorious students who are economically backward and belong to minority community. The assistance which is given to professional courses only is funded by Human Welfare Foundation (HWF).

For this cause, a meeting was held at SIO office, Hedayetpur, Guwahati on Sunday for distribution of cheques. SIO offers various programmes beneficial for students, such as examination preparation, education and career guidance camps.



“SIO is working for balanced as well as all round development of students. The aim of this scholarship was to uplift the meritorious and economically backward minority students, so that they can dream of getting higher education,” Zonal president of SIO Israfil Hussain said.



Hussain also described about their activities in detail. Besides, Shahidul Islam, Secretary SIO Assam North Zone, Mafikul Islam, Expansion Secretary SIO Assam North Zone, Sirajul Hussain, Secretary, State Level National Integration Committee, Saddruddin, Senoir Assistant Editor Prabhudhanam, Kerala were present during the event. Jamaat e Islami Hind North East North President Kefayet Ullah presided over the meeting.
