After creating a major success out of Peace TV, an Islamic television channel, with a global viewership of over 200 million, Dr. Zakir Naik’s new brainchild is an ‘Islamic smartphone’ called “Peace Mobile”.

Set to be officially launched on 16th of August, it is dubbed as a “the solution for humanity” by its makers and promises to “implement Islamic ethos in everyday life”.

Peace Mobile is completely customized with Islamic apps and software. It is said to feature over 50 Islamic applications, 200 Islamic ringtones, 80 hours of Dr. Naik’s videos, hundreds of Islamic wallpaper, numerous Islamic programmes and comes with full 1 year warrantee.

“People will be able to experience the difference, as communicating through technology will make life easy and convenient par excellence while fostering an intimate relationship with the creator,” says IRF (Islamic Research Foundation), a non-profit organisation that owns Peace TV.

Named “Chameleon”, the product is powered by Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and is built on a 1 GHz Dual Core Cortex A9. It has a 4GB internal memory, extendable up to 32 GB with external memory and has a 5 Mega Pixel Auto-Focus Camera. With a 4.63 inches in size, Dual Sim and 4.63″ LED Capacitive Touch Screen, it does comes as a decent alternative to the heavyweights available in the market.

Though there is no official statement from Peace Mobile about the response it has received so far, but Mohsin Khan, who heads Peacemobile.biz, one of the few online retailers currently taking orders for the handset says that, the response has been pretty good. “I have got booking for 4000+ sets within a span of 10-15 days worldwide,” he says.

The handset is being distributed through UAE-based TG Group of Companies in association with Emitac Mobile Solutions (EMS), which is the strategic partner of Research In Motion (RIM), the company behind Blackberry brand of smartphones and tablets.

According to the communication received from IRF to TCN, the phone will be available in India for a price of Rs. 13,200.
