“A total of 47,972 civil employees and paramilitary personnel, 32,801 Delhi Police personnel and 11,842 Delhi home guards have been deployed to maintain normalcy and public decorum for the elections,” Delhi Chief Electoral Officer Vijay Dev said at a media briefing on the poll arrangements.

He said the Delhi Metro and the Delhi Transport Corporation services will begin from 4 a.m. and 3 a.m., respectively, so voters can commute to the polling centres early morning.

Special arrangements have been made by the Election Commission to provide transportation for women.

The city has nine model polling stations, which is a step towards providing improved infrastructure and facilities to the voters, added Dev.

“Total 11,913 voting kits have been provided at all polling stations in the city,” said Dev, adding the EC has kept 1,557 electronic voting machines and 1,809 ballot papers in reserve as backup.

“Total of 730 video cameras have been installed in the 630 sensitive polling booths spread across the nine districts of the capital,” he said.

“The EC will observe the process of voting in all the polling centres by installing micro observers,” added Dev.

Talking on the last day status of violation of the Model Code of Conduct, he said 570 preventive actions have been taken and 48 non-bailable warrants issued against party volunteers trying to sabotage the tranquillity of the election environment.

The defence personnel and the Election Commission officials have cast 42,898 postal ballots as part of the election norms.
