Dikshit, who came along with Congress president Sonia Gandhi, cast her vote around 10 a.m. in the New Delhi assembly constituency, hoping for a fourth term in office.

“I am hopeful that people will vote for development and the work done by us in the last 15 years. I would not want to say how many seats we will win,” Dikshit told reporters after casting her vote.

Dikshit said the direct fight was between the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress, and that Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi won’t have any impact on Delhi elections.

“I don’t see Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) as a strong contender,” she said.

Earlier, when asked if she was nervous, she had said “no”.

The chief minister said her party had consistently worked for Delhi’s development.

“There has been constant and inclusive development. (The opposition) makes casual comments about corruption, which is totally wrong,” she said.

Dikshit also said a high voter turnout was expected Wednesday.

“We have heard the polling is going at a good pace. The whole day lies ahead, people will come out. The voting percentage has been high in other state elections as well, it shows people have started taking more interest in democracy,” she said.
