“Congress leaders in Bengal have themselves become dejected with their electoral ally Trinamool Congress-led government’s anarchism. Why are they raising the same in Tripura,” he asked at a meet-the-press programme at the Agartala Press Club.

“Because their deposit would be forfeited, that’s why Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress did not contest the election in Tripura. Like ‘C’ team, they are witnessing all sitting in the gallery,” Mishra said.

The CPI-M (Communist Party of India-Marxist) leader said the Left-ruled Tripura is a model state in India in view of its success in many areas, including curbing of terrorism.

“There is no force to vote out the Left Front government in the state.”

“When tiny state like Tripura is developing in industrial sectors too, 98 percent industrial decrease was reported in Bengal through various media, official and unofficial reports,” he said adding that if Bengal develops, the other states of eastern India would follow a similar progress.

The physician-turned-Communist leader said the CPI-M politburo and other Left parties would soon finalise the strategies for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Mishra, who is also leader of opposition in the West Bengal assembly, is on an election campaign tour in Tripura in support of the ruling CPI-M-led Left Front.

The election to the 60-member Tripura assembly will be held Feb 14. Votes will be counted Feb 28.
