New Delhi: One day after Akhilesh Kumar-led Uttar Pradesh government has sent notifications to all district magistrates and police superintendents warning them to be held responsible if any riots take place in their territories, Jamiat Ulama-i Hind general secretary Maulana Mahmood Madani urged UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Kumar to set an example for other state by first passing communal violence bill.
In a letter sent to the UP Chief Minter, Maulana Madani said, “Mere notifications neither can generate substantial result nor bring the erring officials to justice as any legal proceedings require passed law.
Welcoming the move though “better late than never” he maintained that Jamiat Ulama-i Hind has been demanding time and again that district administration be held responsible for riots as various national and international human rights organizations have established shameful involvement of the administration and police in fanning violence. Therefore an inclusive and assertive law is badly needed to twist the arms of communal elements that crept away in all public departments. Maulana Madani argued that if local administration determines to prevent violence it can never take place.
He further wrote to the CM that we hope your government would take stride in providing reservation to Muslims as per recommendations of Ranga Nath Mishra Commission and fulfill promises related to releasing of innocent persons framed in terror- charges .
