TASIS launches online certification program for Islamic finance

Mumbai: BSE Institute Ltd. and Taqwaa Advisory & Shariah Investment Solutions (TASIS) today jointly launched an online certificate on “Islamic Banking, Finance & Capital Market”. Islamic Banking & Finance is fast emerging as a specialized area of finance.
To address the need of this industry BSE Institute Ltd. and TASIS have conducted workshops in the past and have now decided to launch a full online certification. Primarily, the certification aims at improved financial inclusion through increased financial literacy. Since India is yet to approve Islamice finance in the country, certification program is directed towards employment in the overseas financial markets.
The certification is designed for professionals who have an interest in the financial sector, i.e. banking, insurance, investment and the capital market. It will be more beneficial for students with a background in commerce, economics and management.
Ambarish Datta, MD & CEO, BSE Institute Ltd. said, “BSE Institute is committed to bridge the gap between the latest financial theories and current practices. It aims at providing its students an understanding of the latest developments in the fields of Islamic banking, finance and the capital markets. The launch of this Islamic Capital Market program is reflective of BSE’s commitment in this direction”.
Dr Shariq Nisar, Director TASIS stressed the importance of Islamic finance education. He claimed, “Islamic Banking and Finance is growing at over 15 % annually and to be able to sustain its current growth the industry needs large numbers of professionals who need to be trained about its basic principles and practices. The course aims to spread this knowledge widely through the use of world class faculty and technology”.
The launch ceremony of the certification is being organised on March 21st, 2103 at the BSE. Ashish Chauhan, MD & CEO who launched the certification with several international delegates from finance industry and Media are being invited to witness the launch.
