Maiden session of B.Ed. at Ajmal Women College inaugurated

Guwahati: The maiden session of Bachelor of Education section of Maryam Ajmal Women College of Science and Technology was inaugurated at Hojai in Assam’s Nagaon district on Monday with the presence of several dignitaries.

It is believed that this will help a good number of girl students in the state.

“Education is the backbone of society. A society or a country can’t develop without proper development of education,” said Maulana Badruddin Ajmai, MP and CEO, Ajmal CSR Organisations; in the first Session inaugural ceremony (2014-15) held at the College premises on Monday.

The session inaugural ceremony was held under the chair of Dr. Jayanta Kumar Hazarika, Superintendent, HAMM Hospital and Research Centre, Hojai.

Remembering his father late Haji Ajmal Ali, Maulana Badruddin Ajmal said “It was a noble dream of my father, who specially emphasized on education and he believed that education is the main armour of the development and today we feel happy to materialize his (Father) dreams”.

Maulana Ajmal further wished that the institution will be able to produce quality teachers in future and hopes that Maryam Ajmal Women College of Science and Technology B.Ed will be an ideal institution in North East.

Addressing the occasion the manager of Ajmal Foundation- Khasrul Islam said, “Bachelor of Education (B. Ed.) degree has become essential for teachers and thus the degree is highly sought after among the educated unemployed youths aspiring to become teachers in school and college. There are insufficient B. Ed. Colleges at present in Assam and very rare in minority inhabited areas resulting very lean scope for minority educated unemployed youths to become teachers or to get a job. So, Ajmal Foundation has taken this initiative to establish a College of Education, particularly for rural educated unemployed youths and to prepare trained teachers for better teachings”.

It is to be mentioned that Ajmal Foundation has attained this milestone in the field of education by starting the B. Ed section that Maryam Ajmal Women College of Science and Technology which is duly recognized by National Council for Teachers Education (NCTE) and affiliated to Gauhati University.

The 1st Session inaugural session was graced and addressed by eminent educationists like Dr. (Mrs.) Gayatree Goswamee and Dr. Jagat Swargiary- both from the Department of Education, Gauhati University and Mr. Sadruz Zaman- a business icon from New York, USA as Guests of Honour.

All of them applauded the services and contribution of Ajmal through its CSR organisations namely Markazul Ma’arif, HAMM Hospital and Ajmal Foundation. They requested the audience and students to attain maximum benefits from the Ajmal- the renowned brand in the world of fragrance.

They emphasized in their speeches that it is only Education which can lead a community from darkness to light from poverty to progress & prosperity.

In addition to the B.Ed. College 1st session Inauguration, the Ajmal CSR organisation offered Grand Civic Reception to five distinguished educationists and social workers for their lifetime contributions towards the development of the society. They are Prof. Abdur Rahman, Prof. Maghiram Saikia, Sri Thoudan Babataombhi Singh, Ex MLA- Mohd. Mujammil All Choudhury and posthumously to Mr. Manjit Kumar Roy who served Ajmal Colleges.
