Coal scam exposer outperforming others in LS

Chennai : Hansraj Gangaram Ahir, the BJP’s member of parliament (MP) who uncovered the Rs.1.86 trillion coalgate scam, continues to outperform other members in the Lok Sabha, said an NGO official.

“Analysing the data released by the PRS Legislative Research till the end of the second session of the 16th Lok Sabha, Ahir has scored a total points of 129. The points are calculated, based on the number of questions raised, participation in debates and introduction of private member bills,” K. Srinivasan, chairman of Prime Point Foundation told IANS here Wednesday.

The city-based Prime Point Foundation, a non-governmental organisation (NGO), creates awareness on effective communication across different sectors. It has been honouring top performing MPs with Sansad Ratna award for the past five years.

Ahir, the BJP MP from Chandrapur constituency in Maharashtra, was one of the Sansad Ratna award winners of the 15th Lok Sabha.

According to Srinivasan, Asasuddin Owaisi of AIMEI, Telangana and BJP’s Nishikant Dubey from Jharkhand follow Ahir with 116 and 115 points.

Srinivasan said the two sessions of the Lok Sabha saw 2,475 debates in which 443 members participated.

The Lok Sabha saw introduction of 61 private members bills and the raising of 8,854 questions.

A total of 152 MPs have attended all the 33 sittings and scored 100 percent attendance.

Srinivasan said 61 MPs, including actor Hema Malini of BJP, scored zero points by not raising any questions, participating in debates or bringing in private member bills.

A total of 37 members of the AIADMK, the third largest party in the Lok Sabha, have raised 401 questions.
