Kolkata : West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s Singapore visit to tap investment has spurred dialogues between industry captains and the south-east Asian nation, which the state government will “crystallize” into viable ventures soon, a minister said here Wednesday.
In a follow-up meeting between industry captains and Banerjee during the day, as many as 45 industry representatives discussed avenues of potential collaborations with Singapore, Finance Minister Amit Mitra told mediapersons.
“The delegation of nine industrialists who went to Singapore with us have said they are getting good feedback from Singapore.
“A dialogue has been initiated. There is a tremendous response from Singapore. Now, we will work on those inputs and develop a roadmap to crystallize the idea,” Mitra said at the state secretariat ‘Nabanna’ in neighbouring Howrah district.
Mitra said the discussion between Banerjee and industrialists lasted for around two hours.
“We have received proposals from different sectors and Sep 5 we will share our plans on how to implement them,” he said.
Led by Banerjee and Mitra, a delegation comprising a host of bureaucrats and entrepreneurs undertook a five-day visit to Singapore from Aug 17 hunting for investments for the state.
