Acid attack accused will be arrested soon: Kashmir police

Srinagar: Police in Jammu and Kashmir Tuesday said investigation into the Dec 11 acid attack on a woman in Srinagar was in progress and the perpetrators of the heinous attack would soon be behind bars.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) A.G. Mir Tuesday chaired a meeting of senior officers to review the investigation, a police statement said here.

The meeting was also attended by officers of the Special Investigation Team (SIT).

Police said they have got several leads and investigators were working round the clock to solve the case as soon as possible.

Unidentified car-borne assailants hurled acid on a 21-year-old woman law student in in Nowshehra area of Srinagar, leaving her in a scarred and critical condition.

Doctors at the Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura, said the woman had serious acid burn injuries on her face that could rob her of her vision.

The IGP Tuesday sought a daily briefing from investigators regarding progress of the case.
