New Delhi : The culture ministry saw a jump of 20 percent in its budgetary allocations for 2014-2015 as compared to last year.
Plan expenditure allocation for 2014-15 is Rs.2511 crore against last year’s Rs.2094.80 crore.
Of all its cultural and performing centres, National School of Drama has got the maximum raise of 41 percent, getting an allocation of Rs.41 crore compared to Rs.29 crore in 2013-14.
On the other hand, money allocation for the artistes pension scheme has dropped from Rs.18.62 crore to Rs.17 crore.
The National Mission on Libraries – a project to modernise and digitally link public libraries across the country – has been allocated Rs.57.50 crore compared to Rs 9 crore last year.
An amount of Rs.657 crore has been allocated to the Archaeological Survey of India compared to Rs.514 crore the previous year.
“Archaeological sites preservation require urgent attention, lest ancient heritage is lost to future generation,” Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said while presenting the budget for 2014-15.
