King Abdullah orders SR100 million more in medical aid to Gaza

Jeddah : Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah on Friday ordered SR100 million ($26.6 million) in medical aid to Gaza, the Health Ministry said.

Acting Health Minister Adel Fakeih said the aid seeks to fill emergency needs to growing number of injured civilians in the Israeli military offensive in Gaza.

The move came a week after the King ordered SR200 million ($53.3 million) in humanitarian aid for the victims of the Israeli offensive that has killed more than 800 people so far. Those funds were also directed to paying for medicine and medical equipment to treat “victims of the brutal Israeli aggression and bombing of the Gaza Strip,” Finance Minister Ibrahim Al-Assaf said at the time.

Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Iyad Madani had appealed to member states and all humanitarian organizations both within and outside the Islamic World as well as to international organizations to extend all forms of support and relief to the Palestinian people, particularly urgent medical relief to the Gaza Strip.
