Eid celebrated in Bihar

Patna : Muslims across Bihar celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr Tuesday with religious fervour, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

People prayed for peace in the world, particularly in Gaza. They offered special prayers for the victims of the Israeli bombing of Gaza.

Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi greeted Muslims on the occasion.

After offering prayers in the morning, people distributed sweets, sevai, dry fruits, perfume among their family members, relatives and neighbours.

In Patna, thousands of people offered prayers at the Gandhi Maidan and mosques despite light rain.

The festival was also celebrated in Darbhanga, Kishanganj, Purnea, Gaya, Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur, Munger and other parts of the state.

While offering prayers, clerics sought divine blessings for rainfall amid drought-like situation in the state. Bihar has received around 20 to 25 percent deficit rainfall till date.

Security was beefed up in various Muslim-dominated areas in the state. There was no report of any untoward incident from any part of the state.
