Nitish not Modi responsible for Gujarat riots, says Shahnawaz Hussain

By TwoCircles.net Staff Reporter,

Patna: In an election rally in Siwan on Thursday, BJP Muslim face, who is contesting election from Bhagalpur, has said that it was Nitish Kumar who was responsible for the 2002 Gujarat pogroms and not the Gujarat CM and BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.

Hussain said that as Railway Minister in the NDA Government, Kumar could not protect the Kar Sevaks who were travelling in the Sabarmati Express and there was no RPF personnel in the coach. He appeared to justify the pogrom, the way Modi had done at the time giving ‘action-reaction theory’ (he has since retracted making any such statement), saying that in people angry over the burning of the train and charring of Kar-Sevaks resorted to rioting.

Hussain also “commended” Modi for trying to control the riots as much as possible and not letting it spread beyond two districts.

Hussain also took a dig at Nitish Kumar and Lalu Prasad for “massaging” Congress all the time.
