RUC state president Dr Nazimuddin Khan, in the letter, alleged that neither the administration nor the police had taken any action again the persons involved even when the Durga idols were put up in an unauthorized manner, a release with a copy of the letter said.

He also alleged claimed that the district collector, in fact, “orally asked the anti-social elements to put up the idols at specific places.” Claiming that the entire area is gripped under tension, Khan said the situation can spiral into a communal tension anytime if left unchecked.

The RUC further requested the Chief Minister to not let any new religious tradition be established in the area and asked him to take strict action against the errant district administration and police officials, the release added.
