LeT recruitment module busted, eight held in Kashmir

Srinagar : Security forces Sunday busted a recruitment module of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in Sopore town of Jammu and Kashmir, and arrested eight members, police said.

“Police in Sopore town, with the assistance of 30 Rashtriya Rifles, busted a recruitment module of the LeT militant outfit thus averting a major terror and subversion plan of the militants,” a police officer told IANS.

The eight members were arrested from various areas of Sopore and adjoining areas, and were preparing for terrorist acts, he said.

“Local boys were recruited by the outfit, building a network of LeT operatives who were bent upon executing various terrorist acts in and around Sopore in conspiracy with a foreign terrorist Umer Khitab, a resident of Pakistan who is operating in Sopore,” the police officer said.

“After being indoctrinated with jihadi ideology, the group members formally joined the LeT and were provided communication gadgets and weapons.
