Beijing: A Chinese court Sunday sentenced two people to death and another to life imprisonment for murdering an imam in north-west China.
Gheni Hasan and Nurmemet Abidilimit were sentenced to death on charges of forming and leading terrorist groups and murder, while Atawulla Tursun was given life imprisonment for taking part in terrorist groups and murder, Xinhua quoted a verdict by the Kashgar Intermediate People’s Court as saying.
The murder took place in the country’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in July.
A series of terrorist attacks in Xinjiang shocked the country this year, with the latest in late July when 37 civilians were killed and 13 others injured in Shache county of Kashgar prefecture.
