Haj Training Programme inaugurated at Imphal

Imphal: A three-day training programme for Haj pilgrims was inaugurated on August 8 at the office complex of Manipur State Haj Committee (MSHC) at North AOC here.

The programme, organised by MSHC, was attended by Minister (Agriculture and Fisheries) Md. Abdul Nasir, Parliamentary Secretary (MOBC and Sc. & Tech.) and Chairman (MSHC) Md. Amin Shah, Chairperson of Manipur State Minorities Commission A. Halim Chowdhury, MLA and Chairperson of Wakf Board, Manipur, Md. Fajur Rahim, Secretary (MOBC) M. Lakhsmikumar and Director (MOBC) Kh. Dineshchandra.

The inaugural function was attended by the Muslims selected for this year’s Haj pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia, besides community leaders and other government officials.

Speaking at the function, Executive Officer Md. Salauddin said that 137 Muslims were selected through online lottery organised by Central Haj Committee for this year’s Haj pilgrimage from the State. However, after the request made by Chief Minister O. Ibobi to the Ministry of External Affairs, the number was increased to 326.

He requested those selected for the Haj pilgrimage to attend the training programme, which will inform them about the requirements of the journey.

Minister Md. Abdul Nasir and other dignitaries who spoke at the function requested all those who are going to perform Haj to pray at the holy place for peace and prosperity in the State.

A Haj Guide-book was also released at the function.
