“The police team probing the case are now trying to find out her motive and her relationship with two undertrial prisoners who escaped taking advantage of the incident,” a district police official said.

Bhojpur District Magistrate Pankaj Pal said it was not a terror attack but was aimed at helping two undertrial prisoners escape.

“This incident was a criminal act to help two undertrial prisoners escape when they were being brought to the court from the district jail,” he said.

Pandey, however, denied that the woman, a resident of Balia in Uttar Pradesh, was a suicide bomber.

“It was a coincidence that the bomb exploded in her bag when she was trying to adjust it,” he said.

Additional Director General of Police Gupteshwar Pandey said that a special investigation team (SIT) has began probe into the incident.
