Atali on fire once again

By TCN News,

Ballabgarh (Faridabad, Haryana): The riot-hit victims of Atali village – who bore the brunt of the communal riots almost a month ago, prompting them to spend days at the Ballabgarh police station – have been attacked again “with swords, thrones and sticks” despite curfew restrictions, an AIMIM leader claimed.

“All this happened in broad day light. One person named Wahid is critical as he has been brutally attacked with swords. The injured are hospitalized in Gold Field Institute of Medical Science & Research. How can such an incident recur when section 144 has been in force and in presence of high security in the village,” Mohammad Afzal Khan, AIMIM Okhla ward president said in a release.

About 500 Muslim men, women and children left the Atali village in panic after the May 25 incident, where their homes were attacked by Hindus and stayed put at the Ballabgarh police station in tents for days before returning to their villages under fear. The incident was triggered during construction of a mosque and opposition to it by Hindus claiming that it was built on encroached land. Scores of houses belonging to Muslims were vandalized and property damaged.

The latest incident occurred on Tuesday and Wednesday.

“This clearly reflects the irresponsible attitude, negligence and poor administration. Had the arrests been made in time, such incident would not have re-occurred but the plight is that the administration is a mere spectator. It simply points towards the incompetent administration and police personal,” he said.

“When CP Subhash Yadav, Faridabad contacted, one of his subordinate answered the call and said everything is peaceful whereas those in village are not allowed to leave village so that they cannot reach Ballabgarh police station to seek protection,” the release said, adding, “The situation is critical.”
