Book Release on 105th Birth Anniversary of Manto

Aligarh: A book ‘Saadat Hasan Manto ke Shahkar Afsane’ was released on the 105thbirth anniversary of legendary Urdu story writer Sadat Hasan Manto on Tuesday.
The book was released by Brigadier Syed Ahmad Ali, the Pro Vice-Chancellor of the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), a release said here.
Ali said that Manto had revolutionized Urdu story writing and his stories portray social and political scenario of his times. He pointed out that now Manto is not only limited to Urdu alone as his stories have been translated into many languages including Hindi and English. “Manto has taken positive side of those whom the society usually rejects,” he said.
Dr Jasim Mohammad, editor of the book, said Manto loved the society in which he was living and he used to keep an eye on the social problems. He has always exposed facts and truth. He pointed out that perhaps Manto was the first Urdu writer who dared to write on physical relations of men and women and it was due to that he had to face six court cases in his life.
Major (Retd) SS Mustafa, principal of Syed Hamid Senior Secondary School, AMU, was present among others, the release added.
