Delhi government to crackdown on illegal constructions

New Delhi: To ensure no unauthorised construction and encroachment takes place in the national capital, the Delhi government has formed a task force of sub-divisional magistrates (SDMs), an official statement said on Wednesday.

The step is being taken to strengthen the Arvind Kejriwal government’s move to regularise all unauthorised colonies in Delhi, as the government has decided to stop all kinds of unauthorised construction in future, it said.

According to the statement, the sub-divisional magistrates will be accountable for checking any kind of unauthorised construction and encroachment in their area. They will file first information reports or police complaints for any such construction or encroachment.

“The government will use the latest techniques, including Remote Sensing Satellite, to check any illegal construction and map Delhi for finding out any such construction or encroachment,” the statement added.

The Aam Aadmi Party government earlier announced it would work to regularise unauthorised colonies by initiating steps like boundary fixation, mapping and asking the municipal authorities to prepare layout plans for such colonies.
