BSF observes Rajiv’s death anniversary as ‘Anti-terrorism Day’

Agartala: Border Security Force (BSF) observed the 24th death anniversary of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi on Thursday as ‘Anti-terrorism Day’, with its officers taking an oath to continue their fight against terrorism.

“BSF officers and jawans observed ‘Anti-terrorism Day’ at all its outposts along the Bangladesh and Pakistan borders, besides at battalion headquarters and sector and frontier command centres across the country,” BSF spokesman D.S. Bhati told IANS.

He said that senior BSF officers administered the oath for fighting terrorism to the subordinate personnel present on the occasion.

“BSF is deployed in far-flung frontiers to protect the country from external threats as well in counter-insurgency duties to fight terrorism,” Bhati added.

The death anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi on May 21 is observed as ‘Anti-terrorism Day’ across the country.
