In a letter written to the National Commission for Women (NCW), Professor Samina Khan, Professor Sami Rafiq and Dr Shahla Ghauri, all from the Department of English, have disagreed with the original complainant’s contention of “gender discrimination” against Shah, a release from Dr Rahat Abrar, AMU PRO, claimed here on Monday.

Through a joint signed statement, the above faculty members said: “We empathise with her in her distress at not being selected to the post of Professor but politely disagree with her contention of gender discrimination against the Vice Chancellor.”

“Her disappointment is understandable but her charge is deplorable,” the statement further read. “In fact, a very good percentage of women have been selected during Shah’s Vice Chancellorship,” stressed the statement.
