Jammu: Jammu Development Council (JDC), a political pressure group, has castigated Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) ministers, legislators over what it called as neglect of Jammu district and alleged BJP of double standards as well as budging down to the pressure of its alliance partner Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the sake of power.

“Promises made during electioneering period to woo the voters resulting in en mass voting and historical mandate to BJP have been forgotten. The Jammuites are feeling offended due to betrayal and cheating by the BJP as they have dropped all those issues once they entered in alliance with Kashmir centric PDP to form the coalition government simply for lust of power,” Inderjeet Khajuria, president, JDC, said in a press statement on Thursday.

Khajuria remarked that “the issues for which Jammuites voted – viz. abrogation of article 370, PoK refugees issue, conferring citizenship rights to West Pakistani refugees, KPs settlement issue, delimitation of constituencies, de-freezing of 24 seats reserved for PoK refugees – have been completely taken under the carpet for the sake of power, which is straight away cheating with Jammuites.”

The press release further said shifting of AIIMS to Kashmir is a surrender policy of BJP to PDP. “The BJP leaders are confusing Jammu people by issuing different and dubious statement on AIIMS and artificial lake project under a planned conspiracy against Jammu,” he alleged.

Khajuria further accused Dr Jitender Singh, Minister of State in the PMO, of making dubious statement and misleading the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the issue of shifting of AIIMS to Kashmir and shelving of the Tawi Lake Project.

“Projects like the cable-car project, Mubarak Mandi Heritage Complex and promotion of Border Tourism at Suchetgarh are lying in shambles with no development due to BJP Kashmir centric policies instead of watching Jammu’s interest for which they were elected,” the statement claimed.
