Monthly Press Conference of JIH held on October 3 at its headquarter in New Delhi.

Addressing the media at their monthly press conference in New Delhi, Secretary General of Jamaat e Islami Hind Muhammad Salim Engineer said: “Jamaat considers incidents such as the lynching of Muhammad Akhlaq in Dadri to be the logical culmination of the communal and divisive agenda followed by the NDA government wherein a climate of violence, intimidation and hatred against the minority community is being perpetuated for narrow political gains.”

He added, “Such incidents are preplanned and engineered to coincide with upcoming elections for polarization of votes along communal lines. Jamaat demands justice for the family of the victim and that the guilty should be punished at the earliest.”

A delegation of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind led by Secretary General Mohammad Salim Engineer had visited Dadri area in Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Budha Nagar district on Friday and met the family of Akhlaq Ahmed who was lynched by a mob on September 27 for allegedly consuming and storing beef.

Salim Engineer was accompanied by Mohammad Ahmed, Secretary, Dr Salimullah, Jamaat president, Ghaziabad, Inamur Rahman, Jamaat’s Public Relations, and Layeeq Ahmed, General Secretary, SIO.

The delegation first met the mother and daughter of Akhlaq and offered their deep condolences. The relatives took the delegation through the house to show them the damages to properties.

Jamaat leaders interacted with Akhlaq’s neighbours, both Hindus and Mulsims. They also met village headman Sanjay Rana. Both Rana and villagers admitted the incident has defamed the village and assured the culprits will not be spared. They also said they would not like the victim families and other Muslims leave the village for fear.
