Geeta meets Delhi CM

New Delhi: Geeta, the young speech and hearing impaired woman who returned to India after being stranded in Pakistan for over a decade, met Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal here on Tuesday.

They met at the chief minister’s official residence during which Kejriwal interacted with the girl through sign language with the help of a facilitator.

On Monday, Geeta called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the evening after sharing the dais with the External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj while interacting with the media on reaching India after over a decade.

Modi thanked Bilquis Edhi, the founder of the Karachi-based Edhi Foundation, for taking care of Geeta during her stay in Pakistan. He also announced to offer Rs. one crore to the foundation.

Sushma Swaraj also expressed her gratitude to the Pakistan government and the non-governmental organisation that took care of the young woman all these years.
