AMU’s Malappuram centre becomes first fully Wi-Fi campus under Digital India

Malappuram: As part of Digital India 2020 Mission, Aligarh Muslim University’s Malappuram Centre became India’s first university to get complete Wi-Fi under Digital India 2020. The launch took place on the occasion of Sir Syed’s birth anniversary celebrations and the service was inaugurated by Iqbal Valiyaveetil, Director, Kerala State Co-operative Housing Federation Ltd.

BSNL, in collaboration with US-based company QuadGen, completed the work of installing and launching Wi-Fi service at the Centre. The facility is equipped with modern technology to put it at par with international standards of connectivity.

According to Dr. H. Abdul Azeez, Director, AMU Centre Malappuram, the service will be provided to both students and teachers free of cost. He told that the AMU Centre had decided to install complete Wi-Fi in the campus for Rs 20 lakh, but it was a matter of great pleasure that as part of PM’s Digital India 2020 Programme, the centre got it for free.
