The NIT campus had been on boil following clashes between Kashmiri and non-Kashmiri students after the locals celebrated West Indies’ win over the Indian cricket team in the world T-20 semi final match on March 31.

The classes had to be suspended after the clashes and subsequent protests. A large section of non-Kashmiri students also refused to appear for their exams and sought migration from the institute.
