Spreading the message of peace and harmony is a national responsibility: Peace conference

Patna: A committee of various religious and social workers organized a grand conference here with an aim to purify the atmosphere of hatred and disgust from the society and to make an environment of love and brotherhood.

The conference was organized at Anjuman Islamia Hall on Saturday evening where scholars from different religions and sects expressed their views on how to develop an atmosphere of love and peace in the society.

The conference unanimously agreed that it is every citizen’s national responsibility to clear the misunderstandings that are being spread by some misguided elements of the society with their vested interests.

While addressing the gathering Nusrat Ali, vice president, Jamaet-e-Islami Hind said that Bihar was an epitome of unity in diversity. He called for a sustained movement to strengthen the peace and humanity campaign initiated by Jamaet-e-Islami Hind.

He further said that the social and religious organizations of Bihar have reshaped the peace campaign into a public movement. Expressing concern over the current situation in the country, he said the meaning of unity and equality is being given a new definition and that justice is necessary for establishing peace.

Ali also emphasized on the importance of regular meeting of people belonging to different faiths. Husan Ahmed Qadri, general secretary Bihar Unit of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind said that the process of restoration of peace must begin from our own homes. “Being the descendents of Adam and Eve, we are all bound in a same relation”, he said.

Dr. Vinay Kanth, ex president of PUCL said, “There is a lot of misunderstanding among us. To understand each other, we have to do away with these misunderstandings.” Expressing grave concern over growing intolerance across country, social worker Mahendra Yadav said that people are being used by the political parties.

“ We, the law-abiding citizens, must have to get out of our homes to spread the message of peace and harmony”, he said.

Shafi Mashhadi, president Urdu advisory committee emphasized the need of mutual understanding. He urged people to keep aside the past for a better future. “The presence of different religious representatives in this meeting proves that we can defeat those forces who are hell-bent to divide us”, Mashhad said.
