New Delhi : Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Friday that West Bengal was targeted by the central government as its Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee dared to slam demonetisation.
“West Bengal is being targeted because Mamtadi dared to speak against demonetisation,” Kejriwal tweeted.
Later, talking to reporters here, Kejriwal said: “Mamata ji is raising the strongest voice against (Prime Minister Narendra) Modi’s demonetisation. If she had praised him, the army won’t have been sent.”
“She is strongly protesting his (Modi’s) wrong policies and his Rs 8 lakh crore demonetisation scam. That is why efforts are being made to scare her by sending in the army.
“But she won’t get scared. I want to tell her to keep up the fight and that the whole nation is with her,” the Aam Aadmi Party national convenor said expressing his support.
Banerjee, also the Trinamool Congress chief, on Thursday accused the central government of “deploying the army” along two highway toll plazas while keeping the state government “in the dark”.
Later, she said she would not leave the secretariat till the soldiers were withdrawn. In a dramatic turn of events, Banerjee stayed put despite the withdrawal of soldiers from the toll gate till early Friday.
