After Mulayam questions lack of recruitment, UP govt says it gave jobs to 4.58 lakh people

Three days after Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav raised questions over Akhilesh Yadav-led government for not giving jobs to five lakh people, Uttar Pradesh government has informed the people that it has given jobs to 4.58 lakh people.

During his Bareilly rally on December 7, Mulayam had categorically asked, “Why have jobs not been given to five lakh people? Why is there a hold up in police recruitment, when during my 18 months tenure I had done the recruitment thrice?” Mulayam claimed that if you give jobs then a family becomes prosperous.

The questions had put the UP government in a difficult spot, and had led to opposition parties cornering him over the issue.

So, the state government machinery was put to task and figures were collected from every department. The Chief Secretary informed that the during Akhilesh Yadav’s period, the state had given employment to 4.58 lakh people.

Topping the chart is the basic education department which has given jobs to 2.79 lakh people, while the police department is a distant second by recruiting 48,967 people.

The subordinate service selection board has given employment to 33,706 people, Lok Sewa Aayog has recruited 26,721 people, secondary education has given jobs to 15,378 people and the figure for revenue department stands at 14,126. The remaining jobs are scattered over various other sectors like medical and health, panchayats, urban development and higher and secondary education among others.
