In the run up to UP assembly polls, the Rashtriya Lok Samta Party headed by Upendra Kushwaha is also looking for some space in the state.

Kushwaha, who is also Minister of State for the Union Ministry for Human Resources, addressed the party’s Kisan-Naujawan sammelan in Lucknow on Friday. His focus remained on farmer’s issues and development of the state. Kushwaha minced no words and claimed that RLSP will contest as an ally of NDA along with BJP in the coming assembly polls.

Kushwaha has slowly been encouraging his supporters to set up organisational structure of the party in the state. The event was attended by party functionaries from 75 assembly seats along with other workers.

Kushwaha is eyeing the backward communities mainly Kushwaha, Shakya, Saini, Koiri and Kachi community who constitute around four percent of the population. Kushwaha raised the issue of rights of OBCs during his address and targeted both SP and BSP. BJP is also giving importance to Kushwaha in UP.

Kushwaha also announced that talks are on with BJP for seat sharing. RLSP won three Lok Sabha seats in Bihar in 2014. He also urged his supporters that they should raise issues related to OBC community strongly.

It will be first time that Bihar-based RLSP will contest poll in UP. Earlier, former Bihar CM Jitan Ram Manjhi also had announced that his outfit is also ready to contest polls in Bihar.
