Azam says Modi met Dawood in Lahore; government terms it baseless

Lucknow/New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh minister Azam Khan on Saturday claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had met underworld don Dawood Ibrahim at the residence of his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif in Lahore in December last year. The government termed it as baseless, unfounded and totally false.

“If the prime minister asks, I can show photographs as proof,” Azam Khan told reporters in Ghazipur district of Uttar Pradesh.

The senior leader of the state’s ruling Samajwadi Party said Modi also met Sharif’s mother at the Pakistani prime minister’s residence in Lahore.

He claimed that Sharif sent seekh kabab for Modi.

“Our prime minister sends pashmina shawl and Malihabadi mangoes for the Pakistani prime minister and in return, seekh kabab comes here from Pakistan. I have proof of this also…,” he said.

The government denied the claims.

“There are reports in a section of the press that the prime accused of the serial Mumbai blasts Dawood Ibrahim was also present during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s meeting with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Lahore on 25th December 2015. These statements are baseless, unfounded and totally false,” an official statement said.
