People using binoculars to spot ‘achche din’: Uttarakhand CM

Dehradun : Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat on Friday took a dig at the BJP’s ‘achche din’ slogan and said the people were buying binoculars to try and see the promised good days.

Rawat also accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of not fulfilling tall promises made to the people when he came to power at the Centre in May 2014.

The National Democratic Alliance government was the first one at the Centre that had slashed budgetary allocations for social welfare schemes like midday meal and Integrated Child Development Services, the chief minister said at a monthly meeting of party leaders at the Congress Bhavan here.

Rawat also said that the central government had cut by 20 percent the budgetary support for scholarships meant for the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Class studentst, affecting students from marginalised communities.

He blamed the Modi government for potable water scarcity and crisis in many parts of the hill state, alleging that 60 percent of budget under this head had been cut.
