Mumbai: Angry due to the labels – ‘A lout’, ‘l-o-u-t’, ‘uncouth’ and ‘uncivilised’ thrown at Jitendra Awhad, NCP MLA from Mumbra-Kalwa constituency by Arnab Goswami, the TimesNow TV News anchor on a live TV debate, NCP Student Wing burned his effigy and called for apology.

On Thursday while discussing Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Khoon ki dalali’ accusation, #SurgicalSelfgoal, Goswami asked Awhad, ‘Who do you think you are’ and raised his voice to be told by Awhad that he was ‘invited’, not thrusting himself on the show. Disappointed by this insult Awhad had left the show, not before pleading Goswami multiple times to let him respond.

Even though Awhad was invited for the debate, Goswami referred him as a ‘local politician’ and never allowed him to put forward his point. The string of tirade started after Awhad addressed the host as ‘Mr Arnab Goswami’, to be told, ‘I know my name’. Then, ‘lower your voice’.

Awhad was not allowed to talk but was told to lower voice even if Goswami and other guests had not kept low.

Aggrieved by such an insult, Awhad’s supporters on Sunday burned his effigy at a square in Mumbra and demanded apology by the anchor for behaving rudely on a live TV debate.
