On PM’s behalf, Naqvi offers ‘chaadar’ at Ajmer Sharif Dargah

Ajmer (Rajasthan), (IANS): Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Saturday offered a “chaadar” on behalf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the “dargah” of Sufi saint Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti.

The Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs (Independent Charge) also read out a message of Modi on the occasion of the 805th annual “Urs”.

Prime Minister Modi on March 24 handed over the “chaadar” to Naqvi and Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office Jitendra Singh in New Delhi.

Reading out the greeting of Modi on the occasion of the annual Urs of the 12th century sufi saint, Naqvi said: “Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti is a symbol of India’s great spiritual tradition.”

“Garib Nawaz’s service to the humanity will definitely continue to inspire the generations,” Naqvi said.

Speaking on Chishti’s role in communal harmony, Naqvi said that “Garib Nawaz” inspires us to strengthen communal and social harmony which can defeat the forces creating conflict in our society.

Moinuddin Chishti, one of the most revered sufi saints and popularly known as Garib Nawaz, established the Chishti order of Sufism in the Indian subcontinent.
